Center for Alexandria's Children

Center for Alexandria's Children logoIn 2008, there were 1,096 reports of child abuse and/or neglect in Alexandria.  These statistics do not take into account the number of cases that are never reported. The Center for Alexandria’s Children protects children and strengthens families by coordinating the investigation, prosecution, treatment and prevention of child abuse in one safe, child-friendly facility. The CAC is a public-private partnership dedicated to one purpose: the elimination of child abuse in the City of Alexandria.

About ACTion Alexandria
ACTion Alexandria is a new online civic engagement initiative launched by ACT for Alexandria. Using a new social media platform launching in October, ACTion Alexandria will work closely with local non-profits, city organizations, and citizens to identify and prioritize community needs and challenges and empower citizens to take collective action to resolve them. Similar to community barn raising efforts of the past, ACTion Alexandria operates under the premise that the citizens of Alexandria are the raw material for collective action and change and that meaningful community action takes many hands.
