Bubbles and Bluegrass—Give Back Alexandria’s largest fundraising event of the year— was a tremendous success, raising almost $15,000. ACT is matching the money raised, resulting in nearly $30,000 for Alexandria charities. 

“We were thrilled with the turnout for this event. It was great opportunity for 20, 30 and 40-somethings to support local philanthropy and to learn how Give Back Alexandria provides easy ways for individuals to get involved and give back to our community.” Co-chairs Kendall Gartlan and Robert Thorsen emphasized the opportunities to support Give Back Alexandria’s grantee partners Higher Achievement and Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Northern Virginia through volunteering and financial support. 

 

This black-tie-to-blue-jeans event featured live bluegrass music from Over Under Down Yonder and food and drink from celebrated local restaurants, brewers and retailers including: Georgetown Cupcake, Jackson 20, The Majestic, Laporta’s Restaurant, Pork Barrel BBQ, Port City Brewing Company, Rocklands, Southside 815, and Total Wine.  

 

The event was SOLD OUT with nearly 200 attendees sporting their finest denim and diamonds, boots and baubles, and seersucker and sundresses.
