Center for Alexandria's Children

Center for Alexandria's Children logoIn 2008, there were 1,096 reports of child abuse and/or neglect in Alexandria.  These statistics do not take into account the number of cases that are never reported. The Center for Alexandria’s Children protects children and strengthens families by coordinating the investigation, prosecution, treatment and prevention of child abuse in one safe, child-friendly facility. The CAC is a public-private partnership dedicated to one purpose: the elimination of child abuse in the City of Alexandria.

Donors & Giving

ACT makes philanthropy easy, no matter what your means. For all who want to give and give back to our community, ACT provides many ways to make a difference.

ACT facilitates three different kinds of giving.

The ACT Community Fund pools charitable dollars from people throughout the city, and directs funds to support and strengthen existing service programs, as well as create new collaborative solutions to the city’s pressing needs. Every dollar raised for the ACT Community Fund stays here, helping people in our own backyard.

ACT’s Giving Circles are groups of people united by friendship, city neighborhood or similar interests. Together, Circles raise funds and decide which issues and charitable initiatives they want to support. Visit Give Back Alexandria and The Giving Circle of Alexandria to learn more.

Many individuals and families decide to establish a Donor Advised Fund. An ACT Donor Advised Fund can easily be set up and fund and other ACT planned giving options offer tax planning advantages.

ACT’s knowledge of local needs, local issues, and local resources strengthens every gift. ACT advises donors on opportunities and needs throughout the area, so individuals, families, circles, and fund donors can make smarter philanthropic decisions…and see results.
