Give Back Alexandria

Give Back Alexandria (Give Back), an initiative of ACT, is a network of people who are focused on giving back to our City and community in ways that encourage social networking, activism, volunteerism, and philanthropy.  A key priority for Give Back is to educate and raise awareness about the current needs in Alexandria and empower the next generation of philanthropists and leaders around those issues.

Each year Give Back selects focus areas and selects nonprofit organization grantees to whom we provide financial and volunteer support.  Last year Give Back members raised over $15,000 to support our grantee partners.  This year Give Back is proud to support Higher Achievement and Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Northern Virginia.  Previous grantees include Community Lodgings, Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center, and The Reading Connection.

Give Back Alexandria Events

December 8, 2010 – Fall into Giving Holiday Goods Drive @ Athenaeum, 201 Prince Street.  Bring your donations to our wine & cheese event and help us warm up our neighbors in need.  Price of admission is an item from the Wish List - coming soon.  Additional giving opportunities will be available during the event.  This event is sponsored by Addx Corporation and will benefit Higher Achievement and SCAN of Northern Virginia. 

June 3, 2010 – 3rd Annual Bubbles & Bluegrass @ Lord Fairfax House - Celebrate the beginning of summer with Give Back Alexandria’s 3nd Annual Bubbles & Bluegrass event. The attire is black tie & blue jeans or anything in between. Live music and Alexandria restaurants come together to provide an authentic southern barbeque menu.
