Your Voice, Our Community
ACT is a community foundation and you – the community -- hold us accountable. We work with donors, nonprofits and civic leaders to improve the lives of Alexandrians by turning ideas into action and resources into results.
This summer we are embarking on an effort to engage Alexandrians in a conversation about our collective vision for our community. And, we want to hear from you! Your voice – and the voices of other Alexandrians – will inform our priorities in the years to come.
By engaging donors, nonprofit leaders, business leaders, and residents, we will develop a shared vision for Alexandria and answer the question: Where and how can ACT add the most value to our community? The experiences and perspectives of all stakeholders are valued by ACT and will be used to help us understand what matters most so that we can set our priorities and work together to ensure that Alexandria is a vibrant place for all.
The ultimate result of the strategic planning process is a strategic compass that will give direction to our work in the years ahead.

How can you get involved?
- Mid-June: a survey of current and prospective donors and donor input meetings
- Mid-June through August: interviews with nonprofit leaders
- June 16: a community “design workshop.” This interactive session will bring a cross-section of stakeholders together for collective brainstorming and conversation.
- June – July: community survey in partnership with the Alexandria Times; the public will be invited to offer their opinions on key questions
