Give Back Alexandria

Give Back Alexandria (Give Back), an initiative of ACT, is a network of people who are focused on giving back to our City and community in ways that encourage social networking, activism, volunteerism, and philanthropy. A key priority for Give Back is to educate and raise awareness about the current needs in Alexandria and empower the next generation of philanthropists and leaders around those issues.

In the past, Give Back selected focus areas and nonprofit organization grantees to whom we provided financial and volunteer support.  Through this initiative, Give Back members have raised over $15,000 to support past grantee partners.  Previous grantees include Higher Achievement, SCAN of Northern Virginia, Community Lodgings, Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center, and The Reading Connection.

Now, Give Back holds bi-monthly volunteer and philanthropic activities that have included volunteering at ALIVE's Last Saturday Food Distribution, gathering school supplies for Wright to Read, or collecting warm winter items for Carpenter's Shelter. If you are interested in receiving information on these bi-monthly activities, please contact Brandi Yee at You can also check the schedule of events found below.

In the interim months, Give Back holds leadership meetings to discuss upcoming events and plans. If you are interested in attending one of these meetings, please email Abigail Hopkins, President, at:
