ACT is going on tour and we want to hear from you!
According to The Performance Imperative's framework for social-sector excellence, one of the key pillars for a high-performing organization is a culture that values learning. As a learning organization, ACT sincerely desires to better understand the community's shifting landscape so we can determine how to best respond to these changes and support our nonprofits and community.
We are embarking on a Listening & Learning Tour this fall and we are seeking to hear from local leaders and community members. We want to know about trends and challenges, but also about opportunities, and ideas they have for creating a better Alexandria for everyone. This tour will help inform ACT's grantmaking and broader work as we seek to align future community investment initiatives and funding around the most pressing community needs. We will be holding targeted focus groups, conducting one-on-one interviews, and sending an electronic survey to our stakeholders.
A few FAQs
When will the Listening & Learning Tour commence?
The tour begins in early October and will wrap up in mid-November with a presentation to the ACT Board of Directors.
Who will you be listening to and learning from on this tour?
ACT will be meeting with past grantees, alumni of the LEAD program, board members, City, school, community leaders and leaders of area foundations. We will also send a survey to nonprofit stakeholders that have participated in past programs and activities.
How can I share my input?
We've received a fantastic response to our Listening & Learning Tour-thank you for your support! While we can't visit everyone, we want your voices to be heard!
Please complete this stakeholder survey by October 28 for an opportunity to win a $20 gift card from The Majestic. Thank you to our generous Corporate Partner, Alexandria Restaurant Partners!
We will also be hosting community office hours on Monday, October 17 from 10am-3pm and Thursday, October 27 from 9am-4pm at 311 Cameron Street. If you have questions or want to share your feedback, we encourage you to stop by!
What does this mean for ACT's Capacity Building Grants?
ACT typically releases a request for letters of inquiry in October and invites organizations to submit full proposals in November. Since we are conducting our Listening & Learning Tour this fall and looking for feedback to inform our future community investment initiatives, we will not be soliciting proposals until we complete our tour so we can align our grantmaking with the needs of the community. We will be awarding grants in early 2017 and will keep you posted on our plans.
