Join Hunger Free Alexandria on Tuesday, October 16 for the first annual Alexandria Food Day!
Hunger Free Alexandria, a community driven coalition and cooperative effort to address hunger needs within the city of Alexandria, is coordinating this event to celebrate World Food Day, an official global day of action recognized by the United Nations to address global hunger issues.
Hunger is an important cause for our community as 1 in 5 Alexandrians, disproportionately children, face food hardship. ACT is one of the members of Hunger Free Alexandria, along with ALIVE!, ACPS, City of Alexandria, Senior Services of Alexandria, Volunteer Alexandria, and more than a dozen faith-based organizations around the city –many of whom operate food pantries and free meals throughout the week.
Join the community on October 16 for events including a city-wide food drive, restaurant fundraisers (including Alexandria Restaurant Partners), community garden tours and a panel discussion on the state of food hardship in Alexandria with local experts.
