ACT for Alexandria

Another Year of Critical Investment in Alexandria Nonprofits: ACT’s 2017 Annual Report

In 2017 ACT continued to support and strengthen nonprofits that serve people living in Alexandria.  Thanks to the generous support of more than 9,000 Alexandrians, including ACT’s donor advised fund holders, in 2017 we invested more than $2.4M in Alexandria nonprofits.  This funding enabled organizations to sustain their programs and grow. “ACT makes a clear impact in Alexandria, shared Tammy Mann, PhD, CEO of The Campagna Center. “ACT provides capacity building grants, which are vital to nonprofit organizations. It takes capacity for nonprofits to grow, develop and innovate.”

This success is made possible by a dedicated network of donors who work with ACT on their charitable giving through their donor advised funds, as well as those that made donations directly to ACT.  It’s an example of the power of collective action.  For every dollar donated to ACT, we can put $3.74 back into the community.

Jane Hess Collins, has a donor advised fund with ACT and credits it to helping her family be more effective with their giving. “When my husband and I decided that we wanted to be philanthropists, ACT for Alexandria’s donor-advised fund (DAF) program was the perfect solution for our family to help those who need help and leave a positive impact as part of our legacy,” Jane shared. “Our account lets us donate when we want and to whom we want, without pressure, and we know our donations make a difference to the nonprofits we support. Those nonprofits tell us how we have helped them achieve their goals, and that makes us proud to be part of the solution.”
