ACT for Alexandria

Building the Capacity of Our Community

Since its inception, ACT has been committed to strengthening and supporting the nonprofit sector.  Thanks to the generous support of our community, ACT has invested nearly $1M in capacity building grants to Alexandria nonprofits.  The capacity building grants process will begin on July 30th with an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to submit a Letter of Inquiry application, due on September 6.  For more information about the grants process including funding priorities and important dates, visit:  https://www.actforalexandria.org/grants-non-profits.  You are also encouraged to contact Brandi Yee at brandi.yee@actforalexandria.org with any questions.

Another way we help build the capacity of the community is through our annual IMPACT: Innovation + Philanthropy Forum.  IMPACT convenes 200+ board, business, City, community, philanthropic, and nonprofit leaders to discuss innovations in philanthropy and strategies for building the capacity of nonprofit organizations and individuals to make a lasting impact in the community.  ACT believes that when the nonprofit sector is strong, our community thrives.

This year's IMPACT Forum (date & speaker TBA) will focus on racial equity and each breakout session will weave in this theme, either directly as a primary topic or indirectly as a core session element. We are looking for presenters to share their expertise. The RFP for breakout sessions is now available and the deadline to submit proposals is September 17.
