ACT for Alexandria

Summer Site Visits: Join Us!

Come see what some of Alexandria's amazing nonprofits are doing.

Summer is a good time to learn more about Alexandria nonprofits and how they are serving our community. Join ACT in visiting these nonprofits in an informal setting as part of our group. You will be informed and amazed. Let's go together!

Higher Achievement Summer Academy

July 25th, 9:30-11:00AM

GW Middle School, 1005 Mt. Vernon Ave.

Higher Achievement’s popular Summer Academy provides rigorous (and fun!) programming to combat the summer learning loss that contributes to academic achievement gaps. Students will be completing their Rube Goldberg Machines during our visit. Come tour this popular program that serves Alexandria students all year round.

Carpenter's Shelter

August 1st 2:00-3:00PM

5701-D Duke Street (Macy's Landmark Mall)

Carpenter's Shelter continues to shelter and assist those who are homeless, all while in the midst of a redevelopment of their property. Learn how they are helping people return to permanent housing as well as see first hand their innovative reuse of the former Macy's at Landmark Mall.
