WHAT ACT IS DOING

Advocacy

At ACT, our advocacy efforts at both the city and state levels are rooted in advancing the economic well-being of Alexandrians. We are committed to championing policies and partnerships that help ensure residents remain safely and stably housed.

We are grateful to work alongside public partners and community leaders to advance solutions that prevent housing instability before it becomes a crisis. In 2026, this included support for policies such as the 14-day pay-or-quit notice (HB15) and the eviction diversion program (HB837), which provide critical time and pathways for families to resolve challenges and avoid eviction.

Eviction Diversion

ACT knows that Alexandria is stronger when community and systems work together. That is why ACT is supporting implementation of a local Eviction Diversion pilot. An eviction diversion pilot builds on existing infrastructure and partnerships in Alexandria and provides more time for households facing eviction to connect to resources and stay housed. The pilot will also integrate community voice, with community members providing feedback on key pilot materials.

The Alexandria eviction diversion pilot represents an important opportunity to test approaches that keep families housed, strengthen coordination across systems, and reduce the long-term impacts of eviction.

As we move forward, we look forward to sharing what we learn and contributing to broader conversations about how effective, community-informed strategies can shape policy and practice across the Commonwealth.
