To date, the Fund has made $34,000 in grants to the following organizations: Lazarus Ministry – St. Paul’s, ALIVE!, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Christ Church Lazarus, West End Lazarus, Christ Church Refugee Ministry, and Old Presbyterian Meeting House. Thanks to those who generously donated to the Fund, these organizations purchased supplemental food for distribution and gave emergency financial assistance to help families with bills and rent.
Local nonprofit organizations have seen an increase in the demand for services. One grantee shared: “Over the past several weeks we have seen an increase in the number of people needing help with rental assistance and utility bills. They have included furloughed government workers, contractors and those impacted by a reduction of need for their services, for example Uber/Lyft drivers, house-cleaners, janitors, and child care providers. The goal during this uncertain time is to keep people safely housed, utilities running, medical needs met and have sufficient food to feed their families.”
The ACTNow Fund continues to accept applications for funding. Grants will be given to support a broad range of programs and services. Priority will be given to help meet short-term, unanticipated emergency services (food, housing, financial assistance, child care assistance and mental health services) followed by services that help affected workers become more resilient and rebound. This funding is intended to support an unanticipated increase in demand for services and is not designed for general operating support or on-going programming. Click here for more information.
