My ReACTion: Team Alexandria makes ACT the best!

By Heather Peeler, President & CEOAdd New

As an institution committed to service and philanthropy, we strive to do our best for Alexandria and its residents every day. Doing our best means providing Alexandria’s critical nonprofit organizations with the resources they need to operate effectively and efficiently. Doing our best also means working with donors to tap into their passions and helping them find different ways to support the causes they care about. And, doing our best means providing a place where neighbors can come together to discuss important issues, become informed about promising solutions, and take action.

That’s why we are so honored to be awarded The Chamber ALX’s Best in Business Nonprofit/Association. To be recognized by our peers, supporters, and partners as the Best in Business means that our work is valued and appreciated. It also honors and celebrates our commitment to partnership and collaboration – our “not-so-secret sauce” to being the best.

Since our founding, ACT has been focused on bringing together different parties so that we could have a greater, more lasting impact. This spirit of teamwork was essential in our collective response to the pandemic. Across the past two years as we’ve worked together with our partners at the City of Alexandria, the school system, more than 80 nonprofit organizations, and hundreds of generous donors. Together we are Team Alexandria.

Team Alexandria flexed its muscles, got creative, and worked together to alleviate COVID’s hardships. Someone once referred to ACT as a community quarterback, helping to ensure that the strengths of each team member contributed to our collective “win.”  It is a role we embrace with humility and deep appreciation for our team. Accepting the Best in Business award is accepting an award on behalf of Team Alexandria.

Collaboration and partnership are the roots of ACT’s success. We could not do what we do without you — our longstanding and new partners, supporters, and friends. Thank you
